I suppose you're right, as pride is not something to be valued these days.
Mind you, he's already committed the ultimate sin of telling his fellow countrymen the best way of bowling out England's captain. But no one seemed too bothered.

I would love nothing more than for Pietersen to play for SA against England.
I hope that would, once and for all, end this fucking bollocks of any cunt playing for any cunt.
Don't think it would. Been going on for decades. I can remember Kepler Wessels captaining Australia, then playing for South Africa, later in his career.

Pietersen is a selfish cunt and more injury prone than Andy Carroll.
I think he will pack up after this game.

Piers Morgan was yapping to Goughy on TS on my way home… he was pretty funny… talking about KP and how England have shitted all over him and how he’d walk into that England set up…

They'd probably want to bring Hameed in for Jennings but they are in equally bad form. That said you can't believe Jennings will survive another Test like the last especially if England lose. There is something about seeing an opening batsman getting his stumps splattered that makes you doubt him big time.

Richly deserved. Scored a hundred against Morkel, Rabada and Morris this summer, a hundred against the sri lankans last year, and in 2015 a hundred against LOLstralia featuring Starc, HazLOLwood, SidLOL and co.
Baffling that he hasn’t had a go before now given his record against the best attacks.

That was my point Sven, completely and utterly wasted an opportunity to give a batsman a chance to bed in properly before the Ashes, and played a guy we know isn't suited to batting 3 in test cricket. He's now got to come in against a side with their tails up, but I suppose better late than never.
Sam with Jennings, he is NOT the man to open in the Ashes, we'll be a wicket down every test, they're bowlers will maul him. He's far too rigid.

You do get the impression that they wasted two Tests on Barry Gallance and that he won't be seen again. They have to get to a point where batsmen coming in are told you are getting the two SA Tests plus the West Indies ones.

Pietersen on playing for SA: 'Would I? Who knows.'
And there you have it.
So we have a batsman at 3, finally. He'll get his chance within the first 5 overs.

The lack of quality bowling in the county championship. is making it harder for selectors to spot good batsmen, especially later developing batsmen.
If you look at England's better batters over recent years, they've debuted in test matches at an early age and hardly played county cricket. Cook (21) Root (21) Ian Bell (22). The had something which the selectors spotted, which wasn't county cricket runs. Selection or recall, based on county cricket runs, doesn't seem to be working, at present.
Despite its faults, I think the central contracts system is an excellent idea. I don't think say Jimmy Anderson, would have had the longevity at test level, playing county cricket very week, between tests.
